Liste officielle des crus classés de Bordeaux en 1855
La classification officielle des vins de Bordeaux de 1855 est une liste de références réalisée à la demande de l’empereur Napoléon III pour l’exposition universelle de Paris de 1855.
Histoire de la classification
Le 6 avril 1855, l’Union des courtiers de l’industrie vinicole de Bordeaux reçut une lettre leur demandant d’établir une liste « exacte et complète » des crus de vin rouge du bordelais, ainsi qu’une classification similaire des grands vins blancs.
Ce classement fut établis en fonction de la réputation des châteaux et le prix de leur production basé sur une tradition de près de deux siècles de classification informelle, essentiellement associée à la qualité de ces produits.
Les blancs furent limités à la variété liquoreuse des sauternes et barsac sur trois niveaux.
Ce classement et les 88 châteaux (61 rouges et 27 blancs) qui en font partie sont un sujet de discussion favori des amateurs.
